Learn about our mission, vision, and unwavering commitment to a Thalassaemia-free future for our community across Nawabshah and Interior Sindh.
From a Humble Beginning to a Lifeline for Interior Sindh
While visiting various localities, villages, and areas of the district, it was brought to the notice of Mohtarma Faryal Talpur (then Zila Nazim Nawabshah) that a great number of children were suffering from Thalassaemia in the district and there was no proper facility in the entire district for their blood transfusions and treatment.
The patients were compelled to travel to Karachi for treatment and transfusions, which was financially unaffordable for poor families. Madam Faryal Talpur took serious notice of this crisis and engaged social activists, doctors, and community workers of Nawabshah. A specialized delegation was formed to personally inspect transfusion centers in Badin and Karachi.
With technical guidance from Hussaini Blood Bank Karachi, a Citizen Community Board (CCB) was formed to establish a dedicated Thalassaemia Treatment Centre in Nawabshah.
A historic Donor Conference was convened on 20th November 2006 at H.M. Khoja Auditorium with the collaboration of the Zila Nazim. The conference became an extraordinary success, raising Rs. 1,000,000/- on the spot from philanthropists and dignitaries. A comprehensive project proposal on CCB Form-4 amounting to Rs. 5,000,000/- was officially submitted to the EDO Community Development Nawabshah.
In 2007, the society was formally registered under the Social Welfare Department, Government of Sindh. Starting with just 120 patients, TPWS today provides 100% free life-saving care to over 2,618 Thalassaemia and 105 Haemophilia patients across Sindh.
